In turbulent flows as in HVAC applications, the fluctuation of air speed can affect sensation thermal comfort. This study is a part larger experimental and numerical campaign intended to evaluate influence turbulence intensity at inlet distribution systems on local draft discomfort for different ventilation cases using simulations. For five imposed values (0%, 3%, 10%, 30%, 50%) heat loss body parts was quantified CFD simulations were performed realistic model human along with an validation humanoid manikin. The further exploited several comfort indicators loss. recorded velocity, temperature fields allowed us estimate distributions DR, PPD PMV indexes which showed no significant changes, but correlations found parts, indicating perception.

Thermal comfort assessment in comfort-prone workplaces.
This paper's main issue is a strong advocacy in favour of an a priori classification of thermal environments that can be really functional to comfort assessment: Class 1, environments where comfort conditions can be established (comfort-prone environments), and Class 2, environments where this is not practically feasible. The former, which are also identified here as 'thermally unconstrained' e...

Verification of CFD-based Computation of Thermal Comfort Indices
This study investigates the applicability of User-DefinedFunctions (UDFs) for determination of thermal comfort indices for non-uniform environments. The demand for such an investigation derived from the need to evaluate thermal environments in aircraft cabins in a more comprehensive way. It is normal practice by Airbus to determine the initial layout of ventilation systems also on the basis of ...
